He is the head team orthopedist for the New York Islanders Hockey Club and orthopedic consultant to the US Open Tennis. He has published, lectured and instructed on the management of femoroacetabular impingement, hip labral tears, massive rotator cuff tears and superior labral tears in elite overhead athletes. Some of the surgeries that he performs included arthroscopic hip surgery for labral tears and femoralacetabular impingement, shoulder replacement, arthroscopic shoulder surgery for rotator cuff and labral repairs, ACL reconstructions, and meniscus repairs. While he treats a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, his practice is focused on adult and pediatric sports injuries. He also received the Kerlan-Jobe Clinical Research Award for his research on superior labral tears in professional overhead throwers. During his fellowship he served as team physician for Loyola Marymount University, and associate team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Sparks and part of the medical staff for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Avengers and USC Football. He subsequently completed an extra year of fellowship training in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at New York University-Hospital for Joint Diseases where he served as an administrative chief resident and was awarded the resident teaching award. Brian R Neri is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who attended Boston College and received his medical education at Loyola University Chicago where he was honored with induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
